Taking Action

My friend's plot after we picked up all the trash!
I worked with a friend to pick up trash on her plot, because there wasn't any trash on mine.

Looking Closely

The picture above is of moss that grew on my plot. I thought it was cool, because it showed all of the tiny roots that hold the moss into the ground. I used to think of moss just as the green carpet like stuff in the woods, but this showed a lot of intricate details like its root system.

The picture above is a water sample from the stream running through my plot. I think it is really cool, because the stream looked really clean without the microscope. However, it actually is filled with dirt, sand, and little  parasites.

Expression

The cover and title of my book.
Example of a couple pages in my book.

I chose to create a children's storybook for my expression using poems that I wrote and pictures that I took.

Meet My Plot

My plot is located in Cannon Township behind my house, because we own ten acres of land.  The plot I chose includes a variety of terrain, plants, and soil.  On my plot I have areas with bogs, a creek, ridges, and wooded forests.  My plot includes the head of a creek which widens and deepens, as it flows through the ravine.  My plot is home to a variety of animals including frogs, turkeys, deer, raccoons, fox, owls, Pileated Woodpeckers, and many other birds.  I have observed an assortment of plants, mushrooms, and fungus growing throughout my plot.  I am excited for my plot study, because I think I can learn a lot about my woods and the wildlife in them.  I haven’t done anything like this before, so this is a new experience for me.  I am looking forward to seeing the changes in my plot as we enter into the fall.
